I guess there comes a point in everyone’s life when they need to realise they are in fact not a Superhero (or Timelord for those who prefer a bit of Dr Who). The fact is it is tough realising that we are susceptible to illness or accident, and even harder to admit it to others. Let’s face it, for most of us, vulnerable is not in our vocabulary.
But the truth is that none of us are tougher than UV radiation, and by ignoring the fact that we are at risk of skin cancer really puts a huge roadblock in our thinking when it comes to sun protection. In short, if you don’t think it is going to happen to you, then you aren’t going to make any effort to use sun protection.
And look, I get it, you don’t want to be seen as some sort of wimp. But if I am honest, I don’t think anyone is going to think you are weak just because you are not stronger than the SUN.
Sure, if you are going to boo-hoo because you got a splinter, yeah I am going to laugh in your face for being a little girl about it. But if you tell me you are wearing sun protection because you realise that you are not actually stronger than the sun, then fair play, I would agree with you, and I think that most guys of some intelligence would too.
So I guess the choice is yours; realise that you are in fact an intelligent person and you are not going to beat UV radiation without a little sun protection, or continue to be a muppet and think you are invincible.
